Hayes Media formed part of the production team behind Season One of TopGear South Africa’s “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car,” a large-scale automotive entertainment series filmed over a 10-month production period. The project combined motorsport, celebrity entertainment, and cinematic storytelling, with each episode featuring a different high-profile South African personality competing on track.
Our role focused on capturing the energy, personality, and competitive atmosphere of the series through both photography and videography. This included filming high-speed on-track experiences alongside talking head interview segments that allowed each guest’s personality to come through naturally on camera.
Working alongside the TopGear South Africa team, the production required a flexible and fast-paced approach capable of adapting to changing track conditions, celebrity schedules, and multi-camera production environments while maintaining broadcast-level visual quality throughout the season.
The series was hosted by Jason Goliath and featured a wide range of notable South African personalities including Dricus du Plessis, Mpo Popps, Rob Forbes, Maps Maponyane, Jonathan Boynton-Lee, Celeste Ntuli, and multiple other high-profile guests across the 11-episode season.
